Willowsway Stud at Stainton Nr Kendal is a friendly and professional yard nestled in the beautiful countryside. We have some of the best facilities in Cumbria, and we are proud to be able to offer you these unique facilities.

The stables are in American barn type stables. Stables are of a large size and horses have year round turnout in paddocks surrounding the Estate.Willowsway Stud & Rehabilitation has state of the art facilities including a brand new outdoor arena, Water Treadmill, TheraPlate, Drimee solariums & Wash bays, horse walker and much more.

Willowsway Stud aims to offer a variety of 5* services; these include Livery Services, Stud Services and breaking/ schooling.

Our Story

Willowsway Stud, set in the hills of Stainton Nr Kendal is a family-run business with a passion for breeding Traditional Gypsy Cobs & coloured sport horses and introducing traceable and proven bloodlines. Their love for Traditional Gypsy Cobs was established in 2013 when Hilary brought home "Too Smart" a 14hh blagdon stallion for her daughter Jo, and since then they've never looked back. The Love for coloured horses went much further back than this with Hilary breeding her first coloured horse as a child with her father. Their aim always to breed for quality and temperament.

Willowsway is owned by Hilary and husband Glyn Waterhouse, but daughter Jo Waterhouse and Yard Manager Vicki Rudd are responsible for the day to day running of the yard, along with their fantastic staff team. Since taking the reins in 2016 the Willowsway team have extensively renovated the yard, which is now home to state of the art facilities, with redevelopment plans continuing to apace.
